I met Sam a little over a year ago at Evergreen Funeral Home. He would occasionally come in to see the staff and the place where he used to serve as Funeral Director. Sam was the type of person you felt like you knew for years. He would take a genuine interest in others. Just three weeks ago, Sam called Evergreen and I answered the phone. We talked for awhile, and though his health was rapidly declining, he was still friendly, caring and upbeat. Sam leaves an amazing legacy in our military, the funeral & real estate business and as a genuine friend. Occasionally when I officiate or assist with funerals, people will approach me and say, "Do you know Sam Hunter?"
