Obituary

James Wayne Jost
September 9th, 1948 - March 13, 2019

James Jost, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, took the hand of Jesus on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at his home after battling Multiple Systems Atrophy for over 7 years. Jim grew up in Hillsboro, Kansas who was the son of the late Marvin and Rosella Jost. Jim graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1966. He married Colleen Ollenburger in 1970. Jim and Colleen moved several times, but lived in the Northwest and Colorado Springs, Colorado for the majority of their lives.

Jim was a loyal and patient worker. He supported his family in several different statistician jobs, but a couple were with Westinghouse Hanford, Hewlett Packard, Agilent and the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System. Jim loved the Lord, and enjoyed volunteering as the Financial Advisor and lights coordinator at his churches. Later in life his passion was to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ to the lost. Jim always enjoyed sporting events whether it was participating in them, watching his kids participate or refereeing basketball. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and cherished the moments with his beautiful wife. His children and their families meant so much to him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Colleen; son, Jeremy Jost; daughters, Jessica Iverson and her husband Brett, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Angela Simpich and her husband Joe, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Kayli, Aubrie and Cody Iverson, and Sydney, Juliet and Titus Simpich; siblings, Loretta Neufeld and her husband Gaylen; Dale Jost and his wife Shirley; and Cheryl McJunkin and her husband Larry; brother-in-law, Hank Nachtigal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Hi I’m very sorry for your loss. I know that losing someone you love can be very difficult. Personally I’ve found that during times like these, the Bible can bring comfort. At Isaiah 41:10 it says “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness.” So this scripture reminds us that God is always there for us and we can go to him in prayer whenever and he will comfort us. Also Jw.org is a Bible based website with many videos, publications, and articles that are specifically made for grief. I’ve been able to find many things to help me in the past on Jw.org and I’m sure you will be able to as well.
