Obituary for Doan Van Phan

Doan Van  Phan
Doan Van Phan, age 73, resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on July 25, 2011.  Doan Phan was born in Vietnam.  He was an Information Specialist in the RVN and served as staff member in the South Vietnam’ Paris Peace Talks 1968-1973.  

After the Fall of Saigon, he went into hiding and managed to send two oldest sons to the US as refugees who later became US citizen and petitioned for his family reunification.  Doan and his wife resettled in Colorado Springs in 2006 with their daughter My-Tiên. 

Doan suffered from a long illness and died peacefully in the presence of his wife, all his children and grandchildren in the US and those in Vietnam via televideo conference.  He was loved by many members of the Vietnamese community and will be greatly missed.
 
Doan is survived by his lovely wife, Thuy Thi Tran of Colorado Springs; children, Dung Tran Phan (w/wife Kim-Lien and eight children: Lena, Linda, Michael, Lillian, Lauren, Phi-Yên, Phi-Long & Phi-Phung of Lafayette, LA); Hoang Tran Phan (w/wife Hoang-Ha and two children Lynn and Calvin of Greer, SC); My-Tiên Tran Truong of Colorado Springs and two children Peter and Phillip w/Patrick Truong, father of the kids; Tuan Tran Phan (w/wife Kim-Chi and two children Hoang-Nam and Minh-Duy of Vietnam); and Tu Tran Phan (w/wife Ngoc-Lan of Vietnam).  Doan Phan was preceded in death by both his parents, the late Tri Van Phan and Minh Thi Phan.
 
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, July 29, 2011 and Mass of Christian Burial will be 7:30 AM, Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Vietnamese Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 1133 N. Wahsatch, Colorado Springs. 

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
