Obituary for Helen M. Torres

Helen M. Torres passed away peacefully on July 8, 2019 just 9 days before her 85th birthday, in Colorado Springs, CO. Helen was originally from Trinidad, CO (and Model). She moved to Colorado Springs in 2010 to be closer to her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Emilio & Eufemia Torres; brothers Max, Louis and Lloyd; sister
Roseanne; nephews Bobbie, Waylon, Butch and Sonny; and nieces Jamie, Rita & Fay.

She is survived by her twin sister Dolores Torres; son William (Pamela) Torres Puryear; granddaughter Amanda Bower; grandson Daniel Puryear; great grandchildren Landyn, Lillian and Madeline and other various relatives.

Helen was a schoolteacher for several years until retiring to travel and spend time with family. She loved helping the students learn and grow and was always supporting them when they graduated high school.

Helen grew up in a ranching family and stayed at the ranch until it became too much to handle by herself. Helen loved to eat at good restaurants and celebrate all of life’s moments with family. She also loved to travel, and took her grand kids on trips when they were little so they could experience new things. Most importantly, Helen stayed true to her Christian faith throughout her entire life. She fought the good fight and proudly professed Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 11 am at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Black Forest, CO. There will be a luncheon immediately after the service. Please let the family know if you will be attending.
