Obituary for Harry Lorraine Wilson

Harry L. Wilson, Major, Retired, US Army passed away peacefully July 11, 2019. A native of Colorado, Harry was born July 4, 1926 in Salida.

He completed his junior and senior years of high school at Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City, Colorado and upon graduation enlisted in the Army where he served with the 32nd Infantry Division in the Southwest Pacific Theater during World War II in addition to Korea and Vietnam. During his military service, he was presented with the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, five awards of the Army Commendation Medal and twelve service medals.

Harry married Irmgard Louise Horn of Gross Umstadt, Germany on August 19, 1954 at the Methodist church in Carthage, New York.

After retirement from the service, he was employed for fourteen years in the automotive field as a salesman, sales manager and general sales manager.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Irmgard L. Wilson, children Jo Ann, Richard and Thomas; and four grandchildren, Natalie, Whitney, Nichols and Ryan.

He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Harry Jr. who was killed in an automobile accident.

Visitation will be at 8:00 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2019 followed by a funeral service at 9:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
