Elizabeth “Bettie” (Weter) O’Neal of Colorado Springs, Colorado died on June 17, 2019 at her home.
Funeral Service will be Friday and viewing at 10 a.m.
Service at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be hosted by the Women’s Auxiliary at the VFW, Post 6461, located at 753 S. Santa Fe Ave, Fountain, CO 80817.
Bettie, the daughter of, Okie and Catherine Mary Gallagher Weter were born November 20, 1952 in Lombard, Iowa.
Graduating class at Newton Senior High 1971.
Graduating from the Iowa School of Beauty as a beautician, then went on to Texas A&M to study Business Management.
As she pursued her college education and working through her adult life, she strived to improve the quality of life for her family.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and sister-in-law to her family.
She married Dennis James O’Neal in 1975 and children followed.
Bettie and Dennis were blessed with two children, son James Dwayne O’Neal and daughter Denise Renee O’Neal.
Bettie also was gifted with five grand-children. Madelin J. O’Neal, Julio C. O’Neal, Cullen J. O’Neal, John C. Doucet, and Cash Green.
She also grew up with a close family of siblings: Tom (Patty) Weter, Bill (Dee) Weter, Kathy (Doug) Gulling, Keith Weter, and Loretta (Rocky) Jacoby.
Bettie was a long time resident of Colorado Springs since 1982.
As a young girl, she wanted to work so badly that she told her employer at a near-by sandwich shop she was 3 years older than she really was. She knew she had a work ethic that surpassed, that of her co-workers.
Bettie’s work ethic was immeasurable, and it showed as she enjoyed a fulfilling career in geriatric care.
“Friend” was not a word that Bettie used loosely. If you heard “friend” from her lips, you had a special place in her heart
Bettie had a variety of interests that spanned from home to the road. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle, Cam-Am, and taking trips with her family.
She loved her home and interior decorating with her unique style.
At the end of her journey, she will be missed by one and all.
