Obituary

On Thursday September 12, 2019, our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt passed away from this life after a sudden illness. By the Grace of God she did not suffer, but was ushered into the next life surrounded by love and family. She was born March 23, 1930 in Hillsboro, NM to Francisco Ruiz and Miquella Madrid. She had two younger siblings, Adelina (Lena) and Robert (Bob), together they moved to Silver City, NM where they grew up in the home built by their father. She lived a full and adventurous life filled with family, friends, celebrations, and good food. She loved to dance, listen to music, and cook for family gatherings. As the matriarch of five generations, she will be greatly missed. The family is eternally grateful for the love, time, and blessings she left behind. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Leland E. Moffitt, her son Frank Michael Vasquez, her mother Miquella, her father Francisco (Frank), nephews Ricky Valenzuela and John Valenzuela, her god-daughter Roseanna Padilla and great-grandson Isaac Ortiz. She is survived by her son, Rudy Ruiz Vasquez, daughter DeeAnn and husband Mark Kerrutt, grand-daughters Michelle and husband Karl Chesley, Mindy and husband Victor Castro, Brittany and husband Bryan Rawlings, Vanessa Kerrutt, grandson Jason R. Vasquez and fiancée Courtney Bennet, Great-grandchildren Nadine Ortiz, Elisa and husband Adrian Campbell, Sarah and husband Spencer Obenchain, Anthony Gallegos, Santiago Castro, Blanca Castro, Miranda Gallegos, Levi Morris and Leilah Rawlings, and by her Great-Great-Grandchildren Jaden Trujillo, Dominic Dressler, Johanna Ortiz, Joseph Martinez, Xavier Martinez, Malachi Campbell, Rosalinda Castro and Alora Campbell. Also, by her sister Lena and husband Chuck Switzer, her brother Bob Ruiz and wife Pat, nephews Jay Valenzuela and David Meinke, James Valenzuela and Danny Valenzuela, nieces Monica and husband Ryan Factor and Kristine Ruiz along with many other family and close friends. She lived, worked, and played for her family and friends; she was always there to help in any way she could. Her family was always on her mind and in her heart. One of her last statements was about spending time with her newest great-great-granddaughter. We are all blessed because of her.

A Prayer for My Children

Dear Father up in heaven, how ungrateful
I would be if I failed to thank You
For the children given to me.
Of all the many blessings
I’ve received from up above,
They are my greatest joy
And fill my life with love.
I’ll do my best to teach them and raise them
In a way that they will live life worthy
To return to you one day.
Bless them in their journey to be
Strong and never waiver but walk
Proudly in the footprints of Christ
Our loving Savior.
For the gift of precious children, I give
Heartfelt thanks, again.
I love You Lord with all my heart,
My cup is full…Amen
