Obituary for Dean Erwin Knapp

Dean Knapp passed away on April 4, 2019 at Mount St Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs after a long battle with dementia. He was born on August 13,1933 in Anamosa, Iowa.

Dean moved his family from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Black Forest in 1969, where he built his own home. He worked as a carpenter and homebuilder, and was a member of New Life Church.

Dean’s parents were Mervyn and Ella Knapp of Cedar Rapids. He married Marylin Delores Hoglan in Cedar Rapids in 1951. He is survived by his 4 children Roger (and wife Marla), Theresa, Cindy, and Larry, 3 grandchildren, Cody, Staci, and Paige, and one great-grandson, Pipkin. He also has a brother, Wayne Knapp, in Cedar Rapids and a sister, Javerna Paggett, in Ely, Iowa. His parents and wife, Marylin, preceded him in death.

Dean enjoyed traveling and camping with his family, fishing, NHRA drag racing, classic cars, and tractors. He enjoyed old westerns and game shows on TV. He most always had a faithful dog by his side.

Funeral services will be held at Blunt Mortuary; a viewing will take place from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Monday, April 8, and the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

A luncheon will follow at Mount St. Francis Retreat Center, 7550 Assisi Heights in Colorado Springs.
