Kaye C. Ruske, 85, a long-time Colorado resident, passed away on November 24, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Brookdale at Skyline.
He was born in Fenton, Iowa to Dr. Ernest and Vera Gene (Olson) Ruske, on July 16, 1933, the middle child of three children.
He attended Fenton High School and was active in band and basketball. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956 and was stationed at Long Island, New York in a radar facility. Kaye was also a pitcher in a semi-pro baseball team in the Northern Iowa League. His working career included employment in jewelry repair, and several sales and positions. At one point, he even sold houseboats on the Mississippi River. He later served as an inspector for the City of Colorado Springs Public Works Department, a position he held for 20 years.
Kaye volunteered his talents in many areas, including the Colorado Springs Airport, Bear Creek Park, and Pillar Institute for Lifelong Learning. He was a member of the Skyline Brittany Club, and a breeder of registered Brittany spaniels. He was the owner of Jazz, the National Dual Champion of bench and field in 1984.
Kaye is predeceased by his parents, and his wife, Sharon. Two brothers survive him, Ward (LaGrange, Illinois) and Lynn (Denver, Colorado).

A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring, date TBA.

The ashes of Kaye and Sharon Ruske will be scattered near Bosque de Apache, Socorro, New Mexico.
